THE PILING ON BEGINS
Yes, the piling on is starting:
An Israeli soldier moves amidst smoking ruins in Lebanon, August 8, 2006. The Israeli military has pounded Lebanon for nearly a month, following a cross border raid that saw two Israeli soldiers kidnapped by Hezbollah. World opinion has fiercely condemned Israel's disproportionate response. (Adnan Hajj, REUTERS)
Reuters may never live down both the Hajj manipulations. And all news organizations themselves need to be watched regarding what is starting to look like the widespread practice of stringer photographers attempting, shall we say, to "convey the spirit of the fighting" . . . or, in other words, staging photos.
With everything else going on, I had almost forgotten about this. It's no wonder Reuters has found itself in such trouble.
