Britons are becoming increasingly impatient as the time pressures of modern life leave people feeling stressed, research has claimed.
Two-thirds of people said they thought modern life was too stressful, while 96 per cent admitted they behaved badly because of the rush they were in to get everything done, according to online insurer swiftcover.com.
The study, which was carried out by the Future Foundation, found that 60 per cent of people had jumped or swapped queues at the supermarket and 22 per cent had even abandoned their trolley or basket full of shopping because the queue to pay for things was too long and they had run out of time.
Six out of 10 people said they didn't have time to shop around for the best deals and just bought the first thing they saw, while 51 per cent said they had been so busy they had eaten standing up and 39 per cent said they did their shopping late at night at 24 hour stores so that they didn't have to waste time queuing. . .
. . . Eight out of 10 people said they found it frustrating having to spend time on the phone to call centres, while 71 per cent hated being stuck in traffic jams and 63 per cent most resented waiting for a delayed train. . .
