. . . deigns to tell us:
MONEY TRAIL: Nearly $100 million in cash can't be accounted for in Iraq, and investigators blame mismanagement by the U.S. government. . .That such a "vast" amount of "oil for palaces" money may be improperly accounted for in the midst of a war in Iraq is certainly an, urr, serious issue. For, as we know, since there was no corruption in Iraq under the Hussein regime, there is reason to worry, clearly, about how . . .
. . . "The U.S. risks fostering a culture of corruption in Iraq," said Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis. . .Speaking of careful spending, how are those dairy subsidies, by the way?:
Six Wisconsin farms received more than $200,000 each in federal farm subsidies last year, according to Department of Agriculture documents. . .Anyway, while we're talking spending and watching our pennies carefully:
The Central Artery/Tunnel Project in its final stages of construction remains the largest and most complex highway and tunnel project in the nation's history. There is broad input and oversight of the Project by numerous entities, and Project managers prepare an extensive monthly report, the Project Management Monthly (PMM), to track the $14.6 billion budget and schedule.I haven't followed that Massachusetts saga closely. But it seems to me that there is no chance at all there was any poor bookkeeping, padding, or even the slightest other misuse maybe totalling even some 1/2 of 1 percent of that hefty $14.6 billion. Right?
John Kerry, a millionaire married to a billionaire, used campaign funds to pay for overdue parking tickets. . .Which is not the sort of thing that our culture need be concerned about, of course.

©? Copyright? Well, myself, I guess. But there is nothing too dramatic here. I was born in 1965. I've got graduate degrees in political science and in history, and I've taught in an American university. More importantly, I like music, books, travel, and find skiing a bit of a challenge -- however, as my wife LOVES to ski (and can ski very well!), of course I LOVE to ski, too. ;-) And, overall, I'm probably a lot like yourself: Nobody special, just someone who looks at what's reported and too often thinks, "Hmm . . . that doesn't sound quite right." And then I bash a keyboard.

"Do not let us be hair splitters. Let us not ask ourselves whether the Americas should begin to defend themselves after the first attack, or the fifth attack, or the tenth attack, or the twentieth attack. The time for active defense is now." (President Franklin Roosevelt, radio address . . . September 11, 1941.)
