When, on the eve of the anniversary of the Normandy landings, an anti-American demonstration saunters throught the streets of the capital of "America's first friend in the world," what's a disgruntled blogger to do? Specifically, how would a Danish-American blogger react, especially if he's accompanied by a German-American blogger and three French comrades-in-arms?Superb.
How about waiting until the photographers and cameramen are ready to snap away at the grumpy bigwigs at the front of the procession, whipping out Old Glory and a sign saying "Sometimes the cowboy is right" (and "We are all Americans" on the other side), jumping in front of their lenses, and breaking out in (patriotic) song?. . .
All was running as planned for protest organizers at last Saturday’s anti-Bush, anti-USA Communist-Arab-Pacifist rally in Paris, France. The crowd was being whipped into a fury with shouts of “resistance!” The Communist lead organizer was conducting an interview with a highly receptive group of reporters. And best of all for the marchers…there was no one sympathetic to the USA for miles around…or so they thought…You probably read Davids Medienkritik already. However, if you have not become a regular fan of ¡No Pasarán!, you don't know what you're missing. (And I don't write that just because they link to me!) Americans -- who speak somewhere around 23 languages fluently -- bringing us all "the best" from behind "enemy lines" in France, they are more than worth a daily visit.

©? Copyright? Well, myself, I guess. But there is nothing too dramatic here. I was born in 1965. I've got graduate degrees in political science and in history, and I've taught in an American university. More importantly, I like music, books, travel, and find skiing a bit of a challenge -- however, as my wife LOVES to ski (and can ski very well!), of course I LOVE to ski, too. ;-) And, overall, I'm probably a lot like yourself: Nobody special, just someone who looks at what's reported and too often thinks, "Hmm . . . that doesn't sound quite right." And then I bash a keyboard.

Where have you gone, F.D.R.?
"Do not let us be hair splitters. Let us not ask ourselves whether the Americas should begin to defend themselves after the first attack, or the fifth attack, or the tenth attack, or the twentieth attack. The time for active defense is now." (President Franklin Roosevelt, radio address . . . September 11, 1941.)
