  THIS WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN

Considering the small number of wackos submerged within the "British" Muslim community, this is really not too surprising. The BBC reports that:

The British Government has vowed to assist Israel's investigation into a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv after Israeli authorities said two Britons were behind the attack.

Israeli officials say the suicide bomber, who killed himself and three other people in the explosion at a Tel Aviv cafe, and an accomplice who fled the scene were British citizens. . .

. . .A man carrying a passport in the name of Asif Mohammed Hanif, 21, killed himself and three other people when he detonated explosives on Tuesday.

An accomplice, thought to be Omar Khan Sharif, 27, is also said to be a British citizen, from Derby.

He fled the scene after his explosive belt failed to detonate.

It is the first time British citizens have been linked to an attack of this kind. . .

Now, if we pause for a second to recall that perhaps the main reason most of the September 11 attackers were Saudis was because Saudi nationals had a far easier time entering the U.S. than other Middle Easterners, then it is pretty obvious why the Israelis did not prevent this: carrying British passports, these guys would have more easily gotten into and around inside of Israel. It is hard to imagine Saudis or -- under the current security measures -- "Palestinians" having the the same access to Israel.

Of course, the "British" Muslim community claims to be upset by this:

Hanif's family spoke of their disbelief that he could have been involved.

His brother Taz, speaking from his home in Hounslow, west London, said his brother was studying Arabic at Damascus University in Syria so that he could return to England and teach children.

"He wasn't that sort of person," he said.

"Anyone who knew him would tell you. He was just a big teddy bear - that's what people said about him."

He told the Sun newspaper: "We used to watch the news and our parents said the suicide stuff is not good.

"What do you achieve by killing yourself and killing other people?"

The BBC's Aeneas Rotsos said the Muslim community in Derby were genuinely shocked and surprised by the claims that someone from their community was involved in a suicide bombing in Israel. . .

It is of course possible their identities were stolen -- I must be feeling charitable this morning -- and these guys had nothing to do with this. However, a "minority" Muslim group offered this not altogether surprising view, which certainly leads one to believe it is VERY possible -- and far more likely -- that these two guys are actually involved:

. . .UK spokesman for the minority Muslim group Al-Muhajiroun, Anjum Choudhury, said it came as no surprise that young men from Britain may have been involved.

"It has not come as a surprise at all," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

"The feeling for Jihad (holy war) at the current time in the light of Iraq and Afghanistan and the continuing intifada in Palestine is very hot within the Muslim community.

"People are very eager to support their Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine and in other areas as much as they can.

"Of course, the ultimate sacrifice for a Muslim is to lay down his life for the sake of Allah in the struggle of Jihad". . .

But, in the end, it's all about THEMSELVES really, and their concerns about how THEY are perceived. One unnamed "British" Muslim said:

"It is a big shock and we all get a bad name at the end of the day".

And since one of these geniuses managed not to blow himself up -- the virgins will have to wait, apparently -- but instead fled the scene very much alive, if he is captured all will probably be revealed in due course.

I've got graduate degrees in political science and in history, and I've taught in an American university. More importantly, I like music, books, travel, and find skiing a bit of a challenge -- however, as my wife LOVES to ski (and can ski very well!), of course I LOVE to ski, too. ;-) And, overall, I'm probably a lot like yourself: Nobody special, just someone who looks at what's reported and too often thinks, "Hmm . . . that doesn't sound quite right." And then I bash a keyboard.
