LET'S HEAR IT FOR O'REILLY, CAVUTO AND FOX AND FRIENDS!
In Britain, you can see the half hour U.S. network newscasts on cable and satellite on a couple of hours delay. The CBS Evening News is shown on Sky News, and the last time I checked NBC Nightly News is on CNBC, and World News Tonight is on BBC News 24. It goes without saying that of course all are televised generally between 1130 PM and 6 AM. So unless you are an insomniac, you have to record them. (The only one I watch regularly is Sky's re-broadcast of Dan Rather at 5.30 AM each morning.)
But the best choice to keep up with domestic U.S. news when you're in the British Isles is FOX News. (Hmmmmm, FOX is not available in France or Germany. But it is available in Spain. Curious. The U.S. Britain. Spain. The Security Council. Togetherness. FOX News. Not that I'm drawing any inferences, mind you.) On FOX News you see exactly the same programming that is shown in the States, which is a marked improvement over what CNN offers internationally. (And better still, for the moment at least, FOX does not even have commercials! Weather forecasts for around the globe are shown during U.S. commercial breaks.)
So, if you are new to Britain or Ireland and want to follow events back home, I recommend subscribing to Sky. It is the UK/ROI equivalent of U.S. "DirectTV". That means you need a dish, as FOX is not yet available on NTL, Telewest, Freeview, etc. as far as I know.
But if you have cable and live on the south coast of England, I see that you can get the France's TV 5 -- in French, of course -- on NTL cable. Just so you know.
